Abstract
This publication presents environmental monitoring carried out in Finland in 2009-2012. It is a summary of the environmental monitoring activities of the following national institutes: Geological Survey of Finland, Finnish Meteorological Institute, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finnish Food Safety Authority, Finnish Museum of Natural History, Agrifood Research Finland, Finnish Forest Research Institute, Metsähallitus (National Board of Forestry), Information Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Statistics Finland, Finnish Environment Institute, and Regional Environment Centres.
The monitoring programs presented deal with water, air, land, animals and plants, forests, biodiversity, radioactivity, harmful substances, water and health, land use and environmental policy. In addition the resources used in monitoring are estimated.
