Häme Regional Environment Centre is responsible for environmental protection, land use and building, nature conservation, protection of the cultural environment and exploitation and management of water resources in its own region.

The centre compiles information on the state and use of the environment at a regional level for its own purposes and to meet the needs of its partners. It seeks to promote environmental awareness. The centre acts in the region of Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme provinces. There are 28 municipalities and 363 000 inhabitants.

Our vision

We want to be the principal environmental actor in our region and a respected cooperation partner.

Our business idea

As a regional environmental authority within the state administration we promote environment protection in our two subregions - Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme. We are responsible for steering and managing developments in environmental matters. We work in cooperation with other actors in our region.

Many kinds of experts

We need many kinds of experts to carry out our versatile tasks. Among our staff we have professionals such as architects, biologists, civil and environmental engineers, geologists and lawyers, specialists in agricultural sciences and administration, and other experts in various fields. The total number of our staff is 90.
