Global co-operation on spatial planning

The OECD Territorial Development Policy Committee (TDPC) is an international forum for the discussion and exchange of experiences in the field of regional policy, attended by the 30 OECD member countries. The aim of the Committee is to promote sustainable competitiveness and efficient and innovative administration in the regions. Three working parties are linked to TDPD: Territorial Policy in Rural Areas, Territorial Policy in Urban Areas and Territorial Indicators working parties. Special emphasis is placed on the development of metropolitan areas and the issues related to the changing climate and aging population. Thematic and regional surveys are central forms of TDPD operation. In Finland, surveys have been conducted on the Helsinki metropolitan area and the regional and rural policies.
